Updating your product category descriptions in AspDotNetStorefront

If you do not have a lot of technical experience making changes to AspDotNetStorefront, or any digital storefront can be daunting. Luckily, AspDotNetStorefront makes it easy to update your product category descriptions. This tutorial aims to help anyone that wants to be able to make small day-to-day updates to their site on their own.

Here we have this site, and we to update the description for products on the “Other” page.

Moments In Frames original description

1) The first thing you want to do is log in to our AspDotNetStorefront. Once you have logged in you will be taken to the administrator’s dashboard. It has a lot of information on it, but no category information.

2) Go to the top navigation bar, and select “Organization” -> “Manage Categories” -> then select the Category you want to update. In this case click on “Other”.

Alternate 2) Because every Product lives in a Category, you could also get to the same page by clicking “Products” or “Products” -> “Manage Products”. If you go this way, you will have to select your Category on the next screen.

3) Once you have selected a Category, navigate to the “Description” tab.

This is the area where you can update the content for a page. There are a lot of different buttons. For the most part they should look like buttons from Microsoft Word or most other text programs. If you are ever unsure what a button does, hover your mouse over it and a little tool tip will pop-up and give you a small description. There is a good chance you will not use most of these buttons, but if you try to make a change and it does not work, always remember that you can undo it as long as you have not saved.

Hopefully, you feel comfortable with the editor, so lets change the content of our description. When you have it looking like you want,

5) click “Update” to save.

When you click “Update” the page will refresh itself. As soon as the page refreshed your changes have been made and can be seen live on the site!

Special thanks to my friends over at Moments In Frames for letting me use their site as an example. They make really nice customized picture frames.
